Toronto’s CerealBox Cafe pop-up
I’ve never been a morning person. When I was younger, I dreaded going to school. My poor mom would have to drag me out of bed. But on days when I knew we had one of my favourite cereals, I’d get up with such enthusiasm. And my faves were, of course, the ones that aren’t nutritionally beneficial whatsoever: Nesquik, Reese’s Puffs and Lucky Charms. Needless to say, that’s why we rarely had them around, and also because I’d basically finish the whole box in a day (oops!).
Now, as I’m standing in front of Toronto’s one-day CerealBox Cafe pop-up, I’m back to that giddy little girl, all excited over sugary cereal. I can’t even remember the last time I had some, which makes this moment even more nostalgic.
This is Toronto’s first ever cereal café and it’s here as a pop-up for one day (though I hear they might have more and maybe a permanent location down the line). If you’re in the 6, you can stop by OFFSITE Concept Space at 867 Dundas Street West from 5-10 pm today (March 10, 2017) for a DIY cereal bowl.
They have a ton of cereal brands like Captain Crunch, Cocoa Pebbles, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms and so much more! Each bowl is $6 and you can mix cereals for an additional $1. Then, you can choose toppings from strawberries, blueberries and bananas, to Oreos, marshmallow cream and Nestle chocolate sauce, to name a few. You also have the choice of adding milk for an additional $0.50. They have non-dairy options, as well as chocolate and strawberry milk.
And if that’s not enough to fill your sweet cravings, they have pop-tarts ($5), cereal bars ($2), coffee ($2) and Station Cold Brew Coffee ($4).
Doors are open to the public from 5-10 pm.
